Maybe you don’t know that...

Salted caramel, now considered a delicacy worldwide, has its roots in a small corner of France: Brittany.
This region, facing the Atlantic Ocean, is known for its wild landscapes, salted butter, and passion for bold flavors.
And it was right here that the brilliant idea of combining sweetness and saltiness was born.

In the 1970s, master chocolatier Henri Le Roux set out to create a new kind of caramel, using Brittany’s famous demi-sel (lightly salted)

butter, enriched with hazelnuts, almonds, and toasted walnuts.
The result? A creamy, surprising confection that broke with traditional flavor conventions.

“Caramel au beurre salé” was an instant success, so much so that Le Roux officially registered his creation in 1980.
From that moment on, salted caramel crossed borders and cultures, becoming an icon of modern pastry.

What makes salted caramel so special is its harmonious contrast: the touch of salt enhances the sweetness,

adds depth, and awakens the palate in unexpected ways.
It’s more than just a trend—it’s a flavor evolution, capable of telling a story with every bite.
